2021 State of NC Internship Program
The State of North Carolina Internship Program is offering paid summer internship opportunities in state government agencies. Applications for the Summer 2021 State of North Carolina Internship Program are now being accepted.
A variety of professional internship opportunities are located across the state and are available to North Carolina residents studying at the undergraduate or graduate level, or in law school in various disciplines. Summer interns work full-time (40 hours a week) for a period of 10-weeks at a wage of $8.25/hour. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- An applicant must be a permanent North Carolina resident attending a college, university, law school, community college or technical institute in North Carolina or a North Carolina resident attending an equivalent institution out of state.
- Applicants must carry a 2.5 or greater overall grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicant must be at least 18 years old by January 1, 2021.
- Community college students must have completed their first year completed before beginning the internship.
- Applicants must be continuing their education in the fall following their participation in the program.
- To qualify for a law internship, applicants must have completed at least one year of law school before the beginning of the internship, unless other majors are listed.
- Students having previously held paid internships with this program are not eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be willing and able to work full-time for the entire 10-week internship. Applicants must be able to provide legal proof of identity and work authorization within three working days of employment.

You may search the keyword “internship” to find postings easily. All posting will begin with, “State of NC Internship - …” Applicants may apply for up to three internship projects. To complete your application, submit the following materials:

- Cover letters outlining the reasons you are interested in each project for which you apply. Address cover letters to the North Carolina Internship Council or to Candace Dudley, Internship Coordinator, 1320 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, North Carolina 27699-1320.
- Professional résumés.
- One copy of transcripts for all post-secondary grades. An unofficial student copy, obtained from your school’s website or registrar, is acceptable. Transcripts must verify current overall GPA.
- Graduate and law students should submit an official schedule/course list if current grades are not available. Law students should include their current class rank when possible. If you have attended more than one college/university, include a transcript for each; graduate/law students should include undergraduate transcripts.
- Brief legal writing samples (law students only). Limit sample to three pages. Include a copy for each law project to which you apply. Writing samples exceeding three pages will not be accepted.
- Optional: Three Professional References (must include name, contact information and relationship).
All documents must be attached to each internship posting for which you apply.

Glass In - covering stringers with fiberglass
Hulls QC - responsible for checking the major fiberglass components
Grinder - sanding, cutting, and grinding
Build Up – spray-core and build parts
Mold Repair - repairing damaged areas on molds
Decking - place the deck on top of hull and bond together
Gas Tank - make connections for fuel and drainage system of boats
Boat Builder - build various areas of the boat
Paint Booth - work in paint booth
Stockroom - pulling kits / parts for the stockroom
Prototype Tech - work in Engineering department implementing new product and parts, troubleshooting, and conducting bench test

Job Coach
Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities are:
- Maintain brand standards in representing the organization/consumer with employers.
- Hands on instruction with consumers in learning about how to perform job duties.
- Encourage development of appropriate work skills and behaviors.
- Daily documentation of consumer progress.
- Completes intake process with clients
- Locate barriers of client employment, such as inflexible schedules and transportation problems and work with clients to develop strategies for overcoming these barriers.
- Involves consumer in employment readiness activities, which may include: Job shadowing, informational interviews, occupational observation, job sampling and situational assessment
- Develop and maintain contact with employers within the local business community.
Competencies:
- Critical Thinking and Reasoning- Apply principles of rational systems to carry out instructions furnished in written or verbal situations. Regular substantive decisions. Job content is determined by the incumbent within the bounds of general job objectives.
- Communication- Ability to understand verbal work orders and instructions; Write straightforward material such as progress reports, procedures, or nonstandard letters. Read and understand material such as very specialized and technical manuals, laws and regulations, etc. Incidental public contact requires normal courtesy, giving/receiving and explaining information, handling complaints, teaching/training, and interpreting and resolving conflicts.
- Computer Literacy – Basic knowledge of computer and computer programming use; Software used: SIGMUND, NeoCertified email and Microsoft office programs (Word, Excel,etc.).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, Associate degree required.
- 1-2 years’ experience required.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record to transport clients in company vehicles.
