Quality Control Associate

CNA Technology – is seeking a Quality Control Associate. This individual will be responsible for inspecting and testing products for conformance to specifications. Our ideal candidate is hard-working, motivated, energetic, hands-on, and effective in a team environment.  See job description below:

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
  • Inspects and tests insulated wire and cable for conformance to specifications, using testing instruments, inspection manuals, and blueprints.
  • Measures diameter, wall thickness, concentricity of insulation, and thickness of wire or cable, using microscope, pin gauges, and micrometer.
  • Attaches weights to cable to test adhesion of insulation to cable.
  • Connects sample to electrical outlet and tests effectiveness of insulation under varying voltages, using such instruments as ohmmeter, wheatstone bridge, and galvanometer.
  • Tests wearability of insulation, using twisting device.
  • Tests breaking strength of wire and cable, using tensile testing machine.
  • Examines and feels surface of braided metal shield surrounding insulation to detect imperfections, and cuts off or interlaces protruding metal strands of shield.
  • Cuts insulation with knife and compares composition of insulation with specifications.
  • Discard or reject products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications.
  • Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems, and assist in identifying and correcting these problems.
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products, and recommend necessary corrective actions.
  • Observe and monitor production operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications and make or order necessary process or assembly adjustments.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent required; Associates/Bachelors Degree in Related Field preferred
  • 3-5 years relevant experience; QC experience in a manufacturing environment, cable/wire preferred
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel is required
  • Self-starter; motivated and energetic individual that is accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem solving / troubleshooting ability
  • Sound organizational and time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including management, HR, and manufacturing
  • Ability to stand and move about for the duration of shift.
  • Lifting requirement up to 75lbs max.

NC Back to Work Grant Program

NC Back to Work Grant Program - is focused on training for jobs in the Advanced Manufacturing sector; individuals must have their CRC. Participates in this program will have an opportunity to earn an OSHA 10 card, Lean Six-Sigma certificates and take the Applied Technology Assessment  – all at no cost to the student (free training). In addition, individuals will also learn about local Advanced Manufacturing Companies.
All individuals who are interested in this program will need to attend one of the two Orientation sessions held at the PCC Greenville Center (3107 S. Memorial Dr., Greenville NC):
-          May-13 @ 6:00 p.m., in Room 402
-          May-14 @ 9:00 a.m., in Room 402

Individual will be responsible for the safe operation of forklifts in support of the complete manufacturing process. Individual will provide assistance in other job functions as needed.

Qualified applicants will have a Career Readiness Certificate, and previous experience operating a forklift.

IBM Kenexa assessments Basic Industrial Skills, Forklift Operation, and Workplace Safety. Work Keys Personal Skills Assessment will be conducted by PittCC

Individual will be responsible for operating dehydration equipment according to company standards. The operator will also be responsible for maintenance and repair or the equipment.

Qualified applicants will have a Career Readiness Certificate, previous experience operating production/manufacturing equipment, plus the ability to maintain the equipment.

IBM Kenexa assessments Basic Industrial Skills, Mechanical Reasoning, Workplace Safety, and Retention of Information. Candidates will also complete the Work Keys Personal Skills (PSA) Assessment at Pitt Community College.

Minimum Salary: $14.00
Maximum Salary: $16.00

Vocational Assessment Specialist

Eastern Carolina Vocational Center Inc. has an opening for - Vocational Assessment Specialist. 

The person in this position will provide vocational services to individuals within 6 counties (Pitt, Beaufort, Craven, Carteret, Jones & Pamlico).  Consumers come from all disability populations of various ages 16 and up. Requirements for a Vocational Assessment Specialist are a 4 year degree in a human service field with coursework in tests, work samples, and situational assessment or 2 years of post-graduate relevant work experience.   M.S. with a certificate in Vocational Evaluation preferred. This position may supervise individuals in group and one-on-one settings during career exploration activities such as testing, job shadowing and volunteering in the community.  As a result of these activities, this person will prepare a written report of findings and observations with recommendations for service planning.  Examples of areas in report to include: work readiness, level of on the job support needed, specific job goals, job interests and demonstrated abilities.   Individuals must be able to work autonomously and have a clean driving record to use company vehicles. CRC preferred.
