Position Title:           Processing Lead

Reports To:               Shift Supervisor

Job Purpose:             Supervise a specific line and/or area within the leaf processing plant and all activities associated with its production and operation.

Job Content and Duties:
·                 Supervise the area to ensure product is properly handled according to customer specification.
·                 Ensure product is in good condition when leaving the area.
·                 Ensure all required sampling is done according to guidelines.
·                 Promote good housekeeping and safety practices in area.
·                 Ensure all necessary reports and payroll information is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
·                 Ensure all hourly employees are properly trained.
·                 Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
·                 Maintain close communications with other departments in the product flow.

Job Competencies:
·                 Good written and verbal communication skills.
·                 Good overall knowledge of a processing operation.
·                 Good organizational and planning skills.
·                 Good supervisory skills.
·                 Good administrative skills.
·                 Good computer skills.

Education and Experience Required:
·                 Minimum High School diploma with some college preferred.
·                 Prefer candidates with a CRC and 2-3 years experience in manufacturing.
·                 2-3 years supervisory experience a plus.

This is a 3rd shift position from August to April during our seasonal processing.  But from April-August, the position will be on day shift, 4 days a week.  Starting pay at $40,000/year plus benefits.

ECVC has an opening for (3) part-time Sorters in MRF (recycling). The working hours are from 8:00 am to Noon for (1) position and 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm for the other (2) positions.  Applicants must be able to stand for extended periods of time, be able to reach and work in a dusty environment.  Dependable transportation and excellent attendance is a must. Because of federal contract requirements, hiring preference will be given to a person with a documented disability.  CRC preferred.

ECVC has (2) openings for a part-time Material Handler/Forklift Operator in MRF (recycling).  The hours are 8 am to Noon for one position and
12:30-4:30 pm for the second position.  The days are Monday through Friday with weekends as needed.  This position is responsible for pulling cardboard, trash and anything that goes up the belt.  Feed the belt with the forklift.  With the forklift, move recycling bins and empty. The ideal person needs to be able to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Move controls to drive a forklift to transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.
  • Move levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts and lift beams to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
  • Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
  • Differentiate between acceptable and unacceptable materials.
  • Be eligible to pass in-house forklift certification within the first 30 days of hire.
  • CRC preferred.
 Dependable transportation and excellent attendance is a must.

ECVC has two openings for a PT Cleaner.  This is a part-time position.  The hours are from 5:00-8:30 pm M-F.  The location for these openings is at the Health Department and Human Service Building.  The primary function of this position is to perform all general housekeeping duties, such as, clean rooms and other work areas so that health standards are met; clean carpets using vacuum cleaners and empty wastebaskets and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.  Be able to sweep, scrub floors using brooms and mops.  Dust and polish furniture and equipment. Be able to lift chairs for set up and take down. Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy. This person will need to be flexible to work in the areas needed and be able to work various hours as needed.

Background check must be favorable to work in a county building including approval for working in the Detention Center entrance (which means a person must not have been an inmate in a detention within the past 10 years, must past criminal history check). Dependable transportation and excellent attendance is a must.  The starting salary is $8.10/hour with an increase to $8.49/hour after successfully completing the 90-day trial period. CRC Preferred.  Because of contract requirements, hiring preference will be given to a person with a documented disability.

Signature Seasonings – a spice and flavor manufacture company, located in Ayden, NC, is looking for an honest hardworking individual to work in a warehouse/line/blender position. The position is 30-40 hrs/wk, from 8:30 – 5:00. Starting salary is $9.50/hr.

Various job duties including: lifting boxes, loading large spice blender, picking orders, packing products, and cleaning. Must be able to lift 60 pounds and stand for long periods; this is a fast paced production environment. 

Must be able to follow all procedures and work instructions pertaining to assignment. Assist in problem solving process, corrective action, and prevention activities. Individual must be willing to learn, understand, communicate, practice, and play an active role in achieving and maintaining our Quality and Safety goals. Must be able to work well with others. ECVC has an opening for a Quality Inspector in the Industrial Services Department. This position is primarily responsible for incoming, in-process, and final inspection to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction in an ISO 9000 environment.
Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities are:
·         Performs quality control inspections, checks, and sampling procedures for incoming materials, in-process parts/components, and end-item/finished goods.
·         Checks color, finish, dimensions, hardness, or other measurable/observable characteristics of material.
·         Performs accurate measurements using rulers, calipers, micrometers and related equipment.
·         Accurately documents results of inspections, checks, and sampling procedures.
·         Compiles results, prepares graphs/chars, and writes reports.
·         Identifies non-conforming product. Writes tags and reports to production supervisor and quality personnel. Assists with material disposition.
·         Evaluates and analyzes problems to support solutions and make preliminary recommendations.
·         Coordinates the calibration of test equipment and maintain logs and records.
·         Performs internal audits to ensure compliance with established processes and specifications.
·         Assists with development and maintenance of quality manual, procedures, work instructions, forms, checklists, flow charts, and other records.

Competences:
·         Critical Thinking and Reasoning – Ability to apply rules and specifications to analyze and evaluate technical information systems, and production processes. Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
·         Reading/Writing – Ability to read and interpret technical documents including blueprints, drawings and specifications.
·         Mathematical Skills – Ability to understand and use fractions, decimals and related conversions on a routine basis. Ability to perform accurate measurements and interpret those measurements using instruments including ruler, caliper, and micrometer. An understanding of basic statistics is helpful.
·         Organization – Strong organizational and administrative skills. Be able to meet multiple priorities and deadlines.
·         Attention to Detail – Ability to focus attention in busy work environment and with frequent interruptions. Exceptional attention to details and precision.

Education and Experience:
·         High School Diploma or equivalent required. 1-2 years college or technical school preferred.
·         2 + years directly related experience
·         Salary range Minimum $12.08/hr. to Maximum $20.14.

Vocational Assessment Specialist

Eastern Carolina Vocational Center Inc. has an opening for a Vocational Assessment Specialist.  The person in this position will provide vocational services to individuals within 6 counties (Pitt, Beaufort, Craven, Carteret, Jones & Pamlico).  Consumers come from all disability populations of various ages 16 and up. Requirements for a Vocational Assessment Specialist are a 4 year degree in a human service field with coursework in tests, work samples, and situational assessment or 2 years of post-graduate relevant work experience.   M.S. with a certificate in Vocational Evaluation preferred. This position may supervise individuals in group and one-on-one settings during career exploration activities such as testing, job shadowing and volunteering in the community.  As a result of these activities, this person will prepare a written report of findings and observations with recommendations for service planning.  Examples of areas in report to include: work readiness, level of on the job support needed, specific job goals, job interests and demonstrated abilities.   Individuals must be able to work autonomously and have a clean driving record to use company vehicles.

Automation Machine Operator

Position:  Automation Machine Operator  
Hours:  7am-3pm

Duties and Responsibilities:
§  Operate medical assembly automation machine
§  Assist employees in changing over from one lot to the next lot
§  Ensure daily production goals are reached and scrap is kept at a minimum
§  Troubleshoot equipment issues that create downtime or poor quality
§  Perform regular preventative maintenance on the equipment

Requirements:
§  High School Diploma or GED, Technology based Associates Degree in preferred.
§  Three years experience operating and maintaining automation equipment.
§  Experience with vision inspection equipment preferred.
§  Experience with 6-axis robots preferred.
§  Experience with pneumatic systems preferred.

  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong skills in Microsoft Excel

  • Problem solving / troubleshooting ability
  • Sound organizational and time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects
