Vocational Assessment Specialist

Eastern Carolina Vocational Center Inc. has an opening for a Vocational Assessment Specialist.  The person in this position will provide vocational services to individuals within Pitt and Beaufort Counties.  Consumers come from all disability populations of various ages 16 and up.

Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities are:
·       Supervise individuals in group and one-on-one settings during career exploration activities such as testing, job shadowing and volunteering in the community. 
·       Observe individuals and make recommendations for service planning in the areas of work readiness, level of on the job support needed, specific job goals, job interests and demonstrated abilities. 
·       Ability to work autonomously.
·       Travel to job sites with the use of company vehicles. 

Competences:
·       Critical Thinking and Reasoning – Ability to apply rules and specifications to analyze and evaluate technical information systems, and production processes.  Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
·       Reading/Writing – Ability to prepare written reports of findings and observations with recommendations for service planning
·       Organization – Strong organizational and administrative skills.  Be able to meet multiple priorities and deadlines.
·       Attention to Detail – Ability to focus attention in busy work environment and with frequent interruptions.  Exceptional attention to details and precision.

Education and Experience:
·       4 year degree in a human service field with coursework in tests, work samples, and situational assessment or 2 years of post-graduate relevant work experience.   
·       Certificate in Vocational Evaluation preferred.
·       Master’s degree preferred.
·       CRC Preferred

Quality Inspector

Quality Inspector
Eastern Carolina Vocational Center Inc. has an opening for a Quality Inspector in the Industrial Services Department.  This position is primarily responsible for incoming, in-process, and final inspection to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction in an ISO 9000 environment. 

Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities are:
·       Performs quality control inspections, checks, and sampling procedures for incoming materials, in-process parts/components, and end-item/finished goods.
·       Checks color, finish, dimensions, hardness, or other measurable/observable characteristics of material.
·       Performs accurate measurements using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and related equipment.
·       Accurately documents results of inspections, checks, and sampling procedures.
·       Compiles results, prepares graphs/chars, and writes reports.
·       Identifies non-conforming product.  Writes tags and reports to production supervisor and quality personnel.  Assists with material disposition.
·       Evaluates and analyzes problems to support solutions and make preliminary recommendations.
·       Coordinates the calibration of test equipment and maintain logs and records.
·       Performs internal audits to ensure compliance with established processes and specifications.
·       Assists with development and maintenance of quality manual, procedures, work instructions, forms, checklists, flow charts, and other records.
·       Verify quality certification documents for incoming and outgoing shipments
·       Verify label requirements and formats for orders prepped for shipping

Competences:
·       Critical Thinking and Reasoning – Ability to apply rules and specifications to analyze and evaluate technical information systems, and production processes.  Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
·       Reading/Writing – Ability to read and interpret technical documents including blueprints, drawings and specifications. 
·       Mathematical Skills – Ability to understand and use fractions, decimals and related conversions on a routine basis.  Ability to perform accurate measurements and interpret those measurements using instruments including ruler, caliper, and micrometer.  An understanding of basic statistics is helpful.
·       Organization – Strong organizational and administrative skills.  Be able to meet multiple priorities and deadlines.
·       Attention to Detail – Ability to focus attention in busy work environment and with frequent interruptions.  Exceptional attention to details and precision.

Education and Experience:
·       High School Diploma or equivalent required.  1-2 years college or technical school preferred.
·       2 + years directly related experience

Material Handler

(1) FT MATERIAL HANDLER
 in Framing

ECVC has (1) opening for a full-time Material Handler in Framing.  The hours are 8 am to 4:30 pm.  The days are Monday through Friday.  This position is responsible for manually moving materials to the proper place for assembling and packaging frames. Loads, unloads, and moves materials within a work area. Supply materials to assembly line workers in order to maintain the proper flow of the line.

Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities are:
  • Attaches identifying tags to boxes
  • Loads and unloads supplies to the assembly line such as glass, mats, & backs
  • Setup boxes for the line and load materials on the pallet jack
  • Replenishes packaging supplies such as boxes, cartons, or labels
  • Lifts raw materials, finished products, and packed items manually
  • Seals container or materials using a tape gun
  • Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner
  • Operates pallet jack to assist in loading or moving products and supplies
  • Weighs and logs scrap for each style moulding
Competences:
·      Critical Thinking and Reasoning- Apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Deal with standardized situations with little or no variables.
·      Communication- Ability to understand verbal work orders and instructions, little or no reading.

Education and Experience:
·      No specific education required.
·      Minimum of 3 months working in an industrial setting is preferred.
·      CRC Preferred.
