Assessment Specialist

Eastern Carolina Vocational Center Inc. has an opening for an Assessment Specialist in
the PROGRAMS Department. This position is primarily responsible for assessing the vocational potential of persons with disabilities and the identification of rehabilitation services needed to maximize that potential. Utilizes situational assessment methods and materials; interviews, and career discussion to determine employment potential of clients. Services may be delivered either on-site at ECVC as well as in appropriate identified community settings based on the consumer’s needs.

Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities are:

  • Observe client behaviors, record observations and calculate time study results.
  • Analyze medical, psychological, socio-economic, vocational and educational information.
  • Interpret a variety of information to include interests and achievements in conjunction with observed behavior and expressed information.
  • Organize evaluation process by producing a written plan for each client. Ensures plan is implemented and completed during clients’ enrollment.

Competencies:

  • Critical Thinking and Reasoning- Apply principles of rational systems to carry out instructions furnished in written or verbal situations. Regular substantive decisions. Job content is determined by the incumbent within the bounds of general job objectives.
  • Communication- Ability to understand verbal work orders and instructions; Write straightforward material such as progress reports, procedures, or nonstandard letters. Read and understand material such as very specialized and technical manuals, laws and regulations, etc. Incidental public contact requires normal courtesy, giving/receiving and explaining information, handling complaints, and interpreting and resolving conflicts.
  • Mathematical Skills- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Calculation of percentages, ratios, or averages.
  • Record Keeping- Enter, check, and verify data; track/collect data; compile, summarize, simple computation/complex computation of data; research and verify data; legally required reports for accreditation.
  • Computer Literacy – Basic knowledge of computer and computer programming use; Software used: Microsoft office (Word, Excel), etc.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation or Human Services related field required
  • Valid Driver’s license with clean driving record to transport clients in company vehicles

Job Coach

Eastern Carolina Vocational Center Inc. has TWO openings for a JOB COACH in the
PROGRAMS Department. This position is primarily responsible for assisting persons with disabilities with employment readiness, provides one-on-one training, assists with gaining employment, and provides on-going support services in community-based work settings. 75% of all task time expected to occur in community settings vs office work after initial training period.

Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities are:

  • Maintain brand standards in representing the organization/consumer with employers.
  • Hands on instruction with consumers in learning about how to perform job duties.
  • Encourage development of appropriate work skills and behaviors.
  • Daily documentation of consumer progress.
  • Completes intake process with clients
  • Locate barriers of client employment, such as inflexible schedules and transportation problems and work with clients to develop strategies for overcoming these barriers.
  • Involves consumer in employment readiness activities, which may include: Job shadowing, informational interviews, occupational observation, job sampling and situational assessment
  • Develop and maintain contact with employers within the local business community.

Factory/Production Supervisor


Name of Position: Factory/Production Supervisor
Reports to: Plant Manager
Labor Grade: E09

Scope of Position:
Manage operations within the department and maintain a well-trained, highly motivated, and quality oriented work force that meets or exceeds business goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervises the department and is responsible for results in terms of costs, methods, quality, and production goals/targets
  • Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observes control points and equipment; monitors personnel and resources; studies methods; implements cost reductions; develops reporting procedures and systems; facilitates corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Plans and establishes work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals and customer demand
  • Explains and enforces established policies and procedures
  • Leads, evaluates, and disciplines employees
  • Maintains direct contact with employees, using proper communication and good people/motivational skills
  • Maintains a properly balanced work force to perform the required tasks
  • Provides a clean, safe, orderly work area. Performs 5S audits and uses them as a tool to hold people accountable for a safe/organized work area
  • Provides training for the safe and proper use of equipment
  • Using LEAN tools, practices continuous improvement daily, to eliminate wastes, improve quality, and increase efficiency and productivity
  • Observes and obeys all safety rules, practices, and procedures
  • Wears and employs all safety equipment

Position Requirements:
The Factory Supervisor should possess the minimum knowledge listed below:
  • High School Education
  • Prior supervisory experience a plus
  • Must demonstrate exceptional initiative

Purchasing Manager


Name of Position: Purchasing Manager
Reports to: Plant Manager
Labor Grade: E11
Scope of Position:
Plan, direct, and control activities relating to the procurement of materials used in the manufacturing division of products. Develop and install policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation of purchasing department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
List what the person must do to perform the job to meet standards.
  • Directs the procurement of the division’s raw materials, purchased parts, service equipment, and operating supplies at the lowest possible price consistent with accepted standards of quality and service
  • Establishes and maintains scrap system to monitor scrap at all levels
  • Maintains necessary controls to keep expenditures within budget limitations
  • Directs the sale of division assets, equipment, and materials classified as obsolete or scrap under the guidelines established
  • In charge of annual calculation of inventory
  • Establishes and monitors, through the purchasing groups, an annual cost improvement program
  • Makes and maintains business relationships with contacts
  • Oversees the day to day accounts payable tasks using the Friedman system
  • Reviews purchase requisitions for compliance with established procedures and policies
  • Reconciles discrepancies in accounts payable, receiving or other departments
  • Locates and organizes packing slips and proof of deliveries
  • Prepares monthly expense report
  • Works with programs to add qualified suppliers and keep current suppliers
  • Perform other similar or related duties as required or requested
  • Regular attendance is always an essential function
