Temporary Laborers in Electronics Recycling

ECVC has (4) openings for temporary Laborers for our E-recycling Department.  This position is responsible for assisting with sorting, and packaging the electronic waste materials that are collected.  Working around industrial trucks equipped to move materials in, out, and around a warehouse or factory.  In addition, the laborer will perform the duties and responsibilities of other positions when necessary.    The laborer must perform all the duties listed below. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sort material into category.
  • Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
  • Move materials to and from storage, production areas, loading docks, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment.
  • Stack material in locations such as transit sheds or trailers as directed, using pallets or Gaylord’s.
  • Carry needed tools or supplies from storage or trucks and return them after use.
  • Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.
  • Wash out cargo containers or storage areas.
  • Enforces safety regulations.
  • Notifies supervisor of any deficiencies in material handling equipment.
  • Trains worker in proper work methods, appropriate behaviors, and quality requirements.
  • Communicates work area needs and/or problems to supervisor.

  • Critical Thinking and Reasoning- Apply commonsense understanding to carry out multi-step but straightforward instructions.  Frequent decisions, often involving initiative in identifying problems and potential solutions.
Physical Demands

·         Most of the time is spent standing, walking and reaching with hands and arms.
·         Ability to reach, handle, finger
·         Repetitive use of hands/arms.
·         Frequent heavy (80-120 pounds) to very heavy (greater than 120 pounds) lifting, pushing, pulling or carrying required.
·         Good visual acuity including depth perception, color discrimination, and peripheral vision.
·         Frequent crouching, stooping, or bending.
·         Ability to hear and speak.

Work Environment

·         Work around moving machinery and equipment.
·         Repetitive use of hands/arms.
·         Frequent interruptions.
·         Exposure to extreme weather conditions (hot in summer; cold in the winter)
·         Exposure to noxious odors, dust, and/or dirt and noise.
·         Frequently working in proximity to moving, mechanical parts.

Education and Experience

·         No specific education is required
·         No specific work experience required.

Other Requirements

·         Must pass background and fingerprinting check and drug screen.
·         CRC Preferred.

We can work around individuals school schedules, etc. but the work has to be done between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Monday – Fridays.  The pay will start at $9.00/hour.
